Title: How Digital Twin and AI Transform Industrial Information Systems

Abstract:The digital twin has moved beyond the enriched 3D model to become a working part of industrial information systems: a representation fed by field data and used to anticipate the behaviour of a physical system. This keynote looks at that shift through the Airbus case, where the twin runs across the aircraft lifecycle, from assembly line configuration to in-service fleet monitoring. It addresses what makes such a deployment work at scale, from data governance across a wide supplier network to interoperability between design, manufacturing and maintenance platforms, and to the question of how much trust engineers can place in simulation when certification is at stake. The case separates what the technology delivers today from what it still promises.

Bio: Julien Fournier is a Software Architect at Airbus Operations and a recognized expert in Industrial Digital Twins, Data Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence applied to aerospace systems. His work is at the crossroads of aerospace engineering, industrial data, and digital transformation. His expertise combines aerospace engineering, large-scale data platforms, scientific computing, and digital transformation, making him particularly well positioned to provide valuable insights into how AI and digital twins are reshaping the future of industry.
Trained as an engineer in mechanics and aerospace before specialising in scientific computing and data engineering, he has spent 8 years bringing the two worlds together: the physical rigour of aircraft product engineering and the scale of modern data and AI platforms. His focus is the industrial digital twin of the aircraft – turning design models, simulation, manufacturing and in-service data into a continuous digital thread that shortens development cycles and puts better information in the hands of the engineers who make the decisions.
He will be speaking on the strategic role of Digital Twin technologies and AI in transforming industrial product development and engineering processes.
